Disable 3D, USB, etc: VBoxManage modifyvm "PPT Converter" --usbehci off --usb off

Configure NAT:

VBoxManage modifyvm "PPT Converter" --nic1 nat

Forward 9123 to 8080:

VBoxManage modifyvm "PPT Converter" --natpf1 "pptconvert,tcp,,9123,,8080"

Configure vrde: VBoxManage modifyvm "PPT Converter" --vrdeauthtype "external" --vrdeport 5123 VBoxManage modifyvm "PPT Converter" --vrde on

Add a user and password

VBoxManage setproperty vrdeauthlibrary VBoxAuthSimple
VBoxManage internalcommands passwordhash "whatever"
Password hash: 7b5f0d7a7720f1ea41d34358b6ecaa264c10b7948d721a5e64eb61079da13d28
VBoxManage setextradata "PPT Converter" "VBoxAuthSimple/users/ppt" 7b5f0d7a7720f1ea41d34358b6ecaa264c10b7948d721a5e64eb61079da13d28

VBoxManage modifyvm "PPT Converter" --vrdeauthtype external

Run headless: VBoxHeadless -s "PPT Converter"

Some other important stuff:

Adding an extra HD

VBoxManage storageattach "PPT Converter" --storagectl "SATA" --device 0 --port 0 --type hdd --medium resized.vmdk

Registering a machine:

VBoxManage registervm /root/.config/VirtualBox/ppt-converter/PPT\ Converter.vbox

Remove audio adapter from .vbox file:

<AudioAdapter controller="HDA" driver="ALSA" enabled="true"/>

This was needed in ubuntu 16 for being able to access remotely:

VBoxManage setproperty vrdeextpack "Oracle VM VirtualBox Extension Pack"
