A range tsdb_lookup with targets on different db_shards merged each db_shard's rows by row number, pairing values from unrelated times. Rows from other db_shards now align to the first item's db_shard by packet time, like ASOF JOIN does within a db_shard. Adds a second QuestDB to the TSDB integration tests to verify against real db_shards. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>

Seed non-driving shards with their last row before start_time
A single-shard range query filters only T0 by time (WHERE T0.PACKET_TIMESECONDS >= $1 AND ... < $2). The ASOF JOINed tables can therefore match a row from before start_time.
The cross-shard path is different. It queries each non-driving shard only inside [start_time, end_time). If such a shard's latest row before a driving row is earlier than start_time, the merged row gets [nil, nil]. A same-shard ASOF JOIN returns the value in this case.
Example: SHARD_B has a row at -1s and SHARD_A drives at 0s. A single-shard query returns the -1s value. The cross-shard path returns nil. The method comment says the alignment works "like ASOF JOIN", so these results should match. In practice, the first points of a range show gaps for items on other shards.
Fix: for each non-driving shard, run the existing point-in-time query (end_time: nil). It returns the last row before start_time. Put that row in front of the shard's range rows. The indexes scan then uses it as the starting candidate.

endCompute driver before this loop. The Python _tsdb_lookup_range_db_shards needs the same change to keep Ruby and Python in parity.

Seed non-driving shards with their last row before start_time (parity with Ruby)
This method has the same gap as the Ruby tsdb_lookup_range_db_shards. Non-driving shards are queried only inside [start_time, end_time). A driving row near start_time therefore gets [None, None] even when that shard has an earlier row. A single-shard ASOF JOIN returns that earlier row.
Fix: run the point-in-time query (end_time=None) for each non-driving shard. Put the result in front of that shard's rows. Apply the same change in Ruby to keep the two implementations in parity.

Problem
A time-range
tsdb_lookup(e.g.get_tlm_valueswithstart_timeandend_time) whose targets are on different db_shards runs one query per db_shard. Each query's rows are driven by its own first table, but the results were then merged by row number, so row N from db_shard 0 could be paired with row N from db_shard 1 from a completely different time. This came up in a CodeRabbit review of the LATEST work (#4052), but it affects any cross-db_shard range lookup, not just LATEST.
Fix
Ruby and Python
tsdb_lookup, range path only:[nil, nil]if none yet, which is the same thing ASOF JOIN does within a db_shard.{}, matching single-db_shard behavior.Point-in-time lookups (no
end_time) and single-db_shard lookups are unchanged.Tests
questdb_client_spec.rb/test_questdb_client.py(alignment, same-time rows, never using a later row, which db_shard drives, empty and placeholder-only db_shards).test_tsdb_lookup_db_shards.pyandtsdb_lookup_db_shards_spec.rbagainst two real QuestDB instances.docker-compose.test.ymland the CI workflow start a second QuestDB (questdb-shard1, ports 9010/8822). Production selects db_shards by hostname (SHARDNUM); locally both are on 127.0.0.1 so tests select db_shard 1 viaOPENC3_TSDB_SHARD1_*_PORT. Both new integration tests fail againstmain's code and pass with this fix.questdb_writer.pywrite_multigains a per-tabledb_shardand now uses a whole-second base time sostart_timeconverts to ISO exactly. Existing TSDB integration suites still pass (Python 86, Ruby 71).🤖 Generated with Claude Code
