Preserve empty status hashes in Python.
If a status record contains {}, Python's or replaces it with {"state": "UNKNOWN"}, while Ruby's || preserves it. Use an explicit None check in both Python APIs.

Almost like we need a getOrDefault here with a default value of {"state": "UNKNOWN"}

Ooo... I like that idea. Especially since RouterStatusModel inherits InterfaceStatusModel, so we only have to define get_or_default once

Closes #4028
Summary
get_interfaceandget_routermerged the model with its status model without a nil check. If the interface or router had no status yet (for example, its microservice hadn't started), the merge failed with aTypeError.Both APIs now default the status to
{"state": "UNKNOWN"}when no status exists, in Ruby and Python.openc3/lib/openc3/api/interface_api.rb,openc3/python/openc3/api/interface_api.pyopenc3/lib/openc3/api/router_api.rb,openc3/python/openc3/api/router_api.pyThe Python
get_interfaceerror message now ends with(get_interface), the same as Ruby.Tests
New tests for both APIs, in Ruby and Python:
state == "UNKNOWN".The Python router tests now start a
RouterMicroservice, which turns thetest_returns_router_hashtest back on.Still to do before ready for review
test_router_api.py:_wait_for_handler_readywaits on{DEFAULT__CMD}INTERFACE__ROUTE_INT, but the router listens on{DEFAULT__CMD}ROUTER__ROUTE_INT. The wait times out on every test, so the file takes about 23s instead of under 1s.test_router_api.py: fix the ruff import order (I001) and formatting (the indentation in_wait_for_handler_ready).get_routererror is missing(get_router), unlike Ruby.🤖 Generated with Claude Code
