chore(deps): trust OpenShell 0.1.2 supervisor template with #12928 - #13041
Conversation
Main's #12928 thread-group process reader changed the supervisor operational template, so the 0.1.2 selection hashes to 31e69236... which the trusted installer-pin parser does not list. The base-trusted verifier therefore rejects #12603 (check-hash) and the manual E2E planner. Add the exact hash to the 0.1.2 runtimeTemplateSha256 list; existing records are unchanged. Reviewed exact head 070adc2f28554e4fc29f398e76d177a284a8fdba against base 8f7a5ff7fde14f2660fddc79e06e1215c21af027.
The digest provenance checks out. The exact #12603 runtime at 0b34b45f66b78b498bb033591d4e61e47ce3cfd6 normalizes to 31e6923609575d64ac36943e58218c801be366b782def8d33406df6e938ef5dd. I reproduced the base parser rejecting that runtime and this PR parser accepting it. The separate 0.1.2 image, version, and manifest identities remain pinned.
Review outcome: Comment. I did not approve because the exact-head Advisor has one validated P1, also captured in the existing CodeRabbit thread: the tests do not directly exercise this 0.1.2 thread-group template authorization. installer-supervisor-manifest-trust.test.ts exercises the thread-group reader after supervisorV00116Fixtures() selects 0.0.116, while prepareReleaseFixtureRuntime() deliberately restores the historical reader for its 0.1.2 fixture. The passing suite therefore does not prove the newly admitted 0.1.2/thread-group pair or its adjacent-mutation rejection. Add the focused 0.1.2 acceptance and mutation-rejection cases described in that thread, or record an explicit maintainer decision accepting this bounded security-test gap.
Security review: PASS for secrets and credentials, input validation, authentication and authorization, dependencies, error handling and logging, cryptography and data protection, configuration, and system security. WARNING for security testing because of the gap above.
E2E context: the exact-head Advisor recommended no additional selector and selected the deterministic managed-image-multiarch-startup floor. That floor passed for 070adc2 in run 38306068810, including Docker and rootless Podman activation. No main comparison was needed because no recommended E2E failed.
prepareReleaseFixtureRuntime restores the historical process reader for its 0.1.2 fixture, so no test exercised the newly admitted 0.1.2/thread-group pair. Add an opt-in currentProcessReader mode and one case that accepts the exact template and rejects it after appending bytes to the runtime. Approved commit f6511b1cda598490df948350ff6b945b0e4f40fc against recorded base 8f7a5ff7fde14f2660fddc79e06e1215c21af027.
The prior test gap is resolved. The focused installer test now sends the OpenShell 0.1.2 thread-group supervisor template through the production extractor, proves the exact template is admitted, then changes the runtime bytes and proves the parser fails closed. The independently derived template digest still matches the future 0.1.2 selector change from #12603, and the trust record remains scoped to that release identity.
I evaluated the Advisor delivery-flow P1 as non-actionable for this prerequisite PR. The repository workflow explicitly requires trust-anchor rollout in two steps: this PR lands the base-trusted record, while a later selector PR makes check-hash consume it. The trusted gate reports all 71 current checks green, with DCO and both commits verified.
Security review: PASS in all nine categories. This change adds no credentials, executable input, authorization path, cryptographic behavior, permissive configuration, or runtime privilege. Supply-chain integrity and fail-closed negative coverage are preserved.
Recommended E2E context: the Advisor recommended no additional selectors. The deterministic managed-image-multiarch-startup selector passed this exact commit in run 38317253325, including direct startup, exact all-agent activation, and rootless Podman activation. No recommended E2E failed, so no main-branch failure comparison was needed.
Outcome
Trust the OpenShell 0.1.2 supervisor operational template that results from main's #12928 thread-group process reader, so the base-trusted installer-pin verifier accepts the 0.1.2 upgrade (#12603).
Reason
#12597 trusted the 0.1.2 release manifests and template hashes, but #12928 later changed the supervisor operational template. The 0.1.2 selection now hashes to
31e6923609575d64ac36943e58218c801be366b782def8d33406df6e938ef5dd, whichscripts/checks/extract-installer-pins.mtsdoes not list. Becauseinstaller-hash-check.yamlruns the verifier from the PR base, #12603 cannot approve this itself:check-hashfails, and the manual E2E planner stops at "Resolve reviewed candidate OpenShell version".Changes

0b34b45f6), main's parser fails withsupervisor runtime operational template is not base-trusted ... actual_sha256=31e69236…. With this change the same command succeeds and emits the 0.1.2release-tsvrecords.test/install/installer-hash-check.test.tscoverage for the 0.1.2 thread-group template: it accepts the exact template and rejects it after the runtime bytes are altered.
