71-79: 📐 Maintainability & Code Quality | 🔵 Trivial | ⚖️ Poor tradeoffConfig errors surface at request time, not at load time.
The action validates language codes on every call. An invalid code such as
xxpasses config loading. It then raisesValueErroron the first user message. Underenable_rails_exceptionsor the IORails engine, this becomes a runtime failure or a synthesized block. The test comment says this split is deliberate, to keep rail config modules dependency-light.FASTTEXT_LANGUAGESis a plain frozenset with no heavy imports, so the config module could validate it directly.Consider validating codes in
LanguageDetectorConfig._normalize_language_lists. This gives a fast failure at config load.🤖 Prompt for AI Agents

606-612: 📐 Maintainability & Code Quality | 🔵 Trivial | 💤 Low valueThe block case does not exercise the localized refusal.
The stubbed block returns
refusal_message=REFUSAL, the English text. The test therefore cannot detect a flow that ignoresmetadata["refusal_message"]and always says the English default. The flow gate equivalence check passes either way.Use a non-English message for the block case. Then add
expected_contentfor it._classify_responsealready treats an unknown assistant message asTRANSFORM, so this needs a matchingexpected_observable. Keep the current case if equivalence is the only goal. Also applies to: 2602-2607

Thanks @RobGeada , the overall direction is sound. Please take a look at coderabbit's and greptile's comments + my inline comments.
three additional points:
- please validate language codes during LanguageDetectorConfig loading, as CodeRabbit noted, so a typo fails before the first request rather than becoming a runtime rail failure.
- please qualify $user_language as a Colang context variable. the action already returns language metadata, which IORails can consume without introducing a shared conversation-context mechanism.
- the original detector evaluation used the default 80-character input limit for refusal localization. now that detection controls admission, please clarify whether classifying that prefix is the intended policy for long or mixed-language messages, and document that scope.
Once these are addressed, I'll do one final round of review.

Thanks @RobGeada , this looks very good. We should be good to merge after addressing following nits (3 are test related):
-
in
nemoguardrails/library/utils/language_detection.py,detect_language()passes a new config on every call, which creates a fresh detector and reloads the model. please reuse aLangDetectorpermax_length. add a mocked test intests/test_language_detector_actions.pyconfirming two calls with the same length load the model only once -
in
tests/v2_x/test_language_detector.py, add a spanish input case withenable_rails_exceptions: true. patch the shared detector utility before constructingTestChat, as the existing tests do, and assert that the flow emitsLanguageDetectorRailException. -
in
tests/guardrails/test_cross_engine_local_rails.py, add a test simulating missingfast-langdetect. compilinglanguage detector check inputshould raiseRailCompilationErrorwith themultilingualinstallation hint. -
in that same file, update
test_iorails_returns_custom_language_detector_refusalto use publicGuardrails(..., use_iorails=True, require_iorails=True)instead of callingIORailsdirectly. keep the exact custom spanish refusal assertion.

Description
This PR exposes existing fast-langdetect logic (used by content safety rail) into a general purpose utility for use in other rails, as well as a standalone
language detectorrail. This rail works using a language allowlist or blocklist to filter inbound messages.Related Issue(s)
