[Medium impact] The changes affect the experimental provider proxy workflow for applications that mount provider instances. Update the dependent import before merging this revision into the stack. Findings
Fix with agent prompt### Issue 1
nemoguardrails/server/experimental/provider/integration.py:22
Removing `_route_path_shape` breaks dependent PR #2457. Its `_provider_routes.py` still imports this helper from `provider/integration.py`, which that PR does not change. Applying its changes on top of this revision therefore raises `ImportError` before the server can start. Keep a compatibility alias or update the dependent caller to import `_route_shape`.

For each issue above, determine whether it is valid and should be fixed. If so, fix it directly.SummarySeparates provider policy from deployment settings so applications can mount several upstreams with their own reviewed endpoints.

Port the three D-3 composition and route-ownership commits onto finalized streaming. Extend the existing shared path declaration with canonical passthrough methods instead of restoring the retired kernel path class. Preserve StreamBinding and request-local hooks, response ownership, and prepared encoding policy. Signed-off-by: Pouyanpi <13303554+Pouyanpi@users.noreply.github.com>
Treat provider_type as protocol identity while keeping reviewed endpoints explicit per instance. Allow strict OpenAI and LiteLLM instances to coexist without sharing or widening field policy. Bind streaming dispatch only when an endpoint declares streaming, and reuse the route-shape validator. Cover buffered-only rejection of stream requests, mixed-dialect inspection, and native network-error mapping. Signed-off-by: Pouyanpi <13303554+Pouyanpi@users.noreply.github.com>

Build one routing plan per provider and use its ownership declarations for mount validation and catch-all classification. Consolidate local and mapped upstream decisions before request buffering, and construct every router before installing any of them. Preserve contract-export import isolation and document the explicit backend-alias contract. Signed-off-by: Pouyanpi <13303554+Pouyanpi@users.noreply.github.com>

Thanks @m-misiura , I think your review concerns has been addressed. plmk what you think, thank you! |
Many thanks @Pouyanpi; it's an LGTM from my end |
Summary
Separates reusable provider definitions from deployment instances, allowing an
application to mount multiple upstreams and explicitly select a reviewed dialect
for each instance of a provider protocol.
Why
A provider protocol defines projections, errors, and stream behavior. A
deployment supplies an upstream URL and local routes. Separating those roles
lets deployments reuse the same guarded behavior without duplicating it.
How it works
Provider type identifies the protocol family. Each instance declares its reviewed
endpoints and error mapping, deployment identity, upstream base URL, local mount,
and operation-ID namespace. Instances of one family may use different dialects.
Application assembly binds each instance to dispatch and installs guarded routes
before instance-specific catch-all forwarding. Multiple instances can therefore
reach different configured upstreams, with strict OpenAI and LiteLLM declarations
coexisting without widening one another's field policy.
Streaming dispatch is bound only for endpoints that declare a stream binding.
Buffered-only endpoints remain usable and reject stream requests before dispatch.
What Changed
Review Notes
Review route precedence, instance isolation, operation IDs, and request-local
state. Provider definitions own protocol semantics; instances own deployment
locations. Applications select reviewed endpoints in trusted provider
declarations; no request-controlled dialect selection or automatic backend
detection is introduced.
Local focused composition and transport checks: 75 passed; pre-commit passed.
