The download from SourceForge is painfully slow. Is there a faster way?

From Europe, SourceForge often gives around 250 kB/s. On a 4.7 GB image that is most of a
day, and it is the first thing anyone meets when they try the project.

Use the torrent — it is on skillfishos.com/download
next to every image, with a magnet link beside it.

Two things make it worth preferring over the direct link:

• it is seeded by a machine of ours that stays up around the clock, so it does not depend on
  anyone else being online;
• the mirrors are inside the torrent as HTTP web seeds, so even with no peers at all the
  download still runs at whatever the mirrors give you — you never end up worse off than the
  direct link.

Always check the sha256 afterwards. It is published next to each image and takes a few
seconds:
