The breaking changes from v4 to v7 are Node 24 (fine on the ubuntu-latest hosted runners used here), credentials persisted to a separate file, and a block on fork-PR checkout under pull_request_target/workflow_run. None of the workflows uses those triggers, a container job or a git-authenticating Docker step, and the only input used is fetch-depth: 0, which is unchanged.

The steward merges it once every CI check on this exact head has passed.

Verdict: safe. None of the breaking changes in actions/checkout v4 → v7 reaches how this repository uses it.

What changed between v4 and v7

• v5: the action now runs on Node 24, which needs runner version 2.327.1 or later.

• Node 24: every job runs on GitHub-hosted ubuntu-latest. There are no self-hosted runners or container: jobs.
• Credentials file: after checkout, no step runs git commands that need the stored credentials. The registry login, GoReleaser and the Docker build get GITHUB_TOKEN directly (release.yml:57,65, image.yml:42). GoReleaser only reads local history and tags, which fetch-depth: 0 still fetches as before.
• Inputs: fetch-depth is unchanged across these versions, and no other input is used.

Caveat: CI on this pull request won't exercise image.yml or release.yml, because they only run on tags or a manual trigger. Going by the analysis above they're unaffected, but the first tagged release will be the first real run of checkout v7 in those two workflows.
