🦊 Part of the Kitsune Systems Collection
Steel spike traps, and cone spikes you upgrade like a building block until you set them on fire. For 7 Days to Die 3.x.
Vanilla stops at iron spikes. This adds the step after that, and brings back a single-block spike you can grow in place: start it as wood, harden it, tip it with iron, then soak it in gas and light it.
| Wood | Iron | Steel | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Damage per hit | 33 | 33 | 40 |
| Durability per stage | 100 | 200 | 400 |
| Repair with | Wood | Forged Iron | Forged Steel |
- Craft at a workbench from 4 Forged Steel, or hit an undamaged iron spike trap with a hammer while carrying 4 Forged Steel.
- Same three wear stages as iron (clean, bloody, wrecked), using the iron trap models with a steel-tinted icon.
One block, four tiers. Upgrade with a hammer (or stone axe / nailgun) just like a wall:
| Tier | Upgrade cost | Damage | Durability | Repair with |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Wood Cone Spikes | craft: 10 Wood | 30 | 150 | Wood |
| Reinforced Cone Spikes | 10 Wood | 33 | 250 | Wood |
| Iron-Tipped Cone Spikes | 4 Forged Iron | 40 | 350 | Forged Iron |
| Burning Cone Spikes | 10 Gas | 40 + fire | 200 | Gas |
- Burning cones glow and set anything standing in them on fire (vanilla on-fire flames, 8 HP/s on zombies, 4 HP/s on players, refreshed for as long as they stay in it). Water puts the fire out like any other burn.
- Damage walks a cone back down its tiers, like a building block. A burning cone that takes enough hits burns through its fuel and goes out, dropping back to iron-tipped. Hit it with 10 Gas to relight it, or repair it with Gas before then to top the fuel up.
- They use the vanilla 1m cone shape, so they can be rotated like any shape block (point them out of a wall, if you like).
Everything here is built the way KitsuneTrapXP expects a simple trap to be:
- every block is named
trap..., so TrapXP records who placed it, and who last upgraded it; - every block keeps the vanilla spike damage class, so each hit carries the trap's position and TrapXP knows whose trap it was;
- a zombie that runs through a burning cone and dies of the burn later still counts as a trap kill for the cone's owner, because the spike hit already marked it.
No setting needed. Install both and trap kills from steel and cone spikes give XP like vanilla spikes do.
- 7 Days to Die V3.x (built against V3.3).
- Server-side only, pure XML. Clients don't need it and EAC can stay on.
- Drop the
KitsuneSpikesExtendedfolder from the release zip into yourMods/folder (server, or your game for single player). - Restart.
It's also in the Kitsune Server Side Starter Kit, alongside Trap XP.
