Atlas Sidebar v0.27.0

This is the first public release of Atlas Sidebar. It preserves one of the most useful workflows from the Atlas browser: collect context while you read, keep it in a persistent local staging area, and decide what to copy, download, or add to ChatGPT when you are ready.

Staged material remains available when you switch tabs, close the side panel, reload the extension, or restart Chrome. It is removed only when you delete individual items or clear the staging area yourself.

Key features

• Open ChatGPT or another HTTP(S) page inside Chrome Side Panel.

• Save sidebar pages, give them custom names, and manage recent visits across multiple conversations and tasks.

• Collect selected text with the inline “+” button or context menu, as well as links, visible screenshots, webpage content, remote PDFs, and local files.

• Detect and download existing manual or auto-generated YouTube and Bilibili transcripts while keeping unavailable, restricted, and failed states distinct.

• Create reusable saved prompts with optional {variable} fields, and import or export the prompt library as local JSON.

• Copy selected material for use in any app, download it locally, or explicitly add it to the current ChatGPT composer or attachment area. Atlas Sidebar never sends a message automatically.

• Customize the interface language, preferred transcript language, draggable capture-tool order, light or dark mode, and top-bar theme.

Installation

1. Download Atlas-Sidebar-v0.27.0.zip below.

2. Unzip it and move the resulting atlas-sidebar folder to a stable location.

3. Open chrome://extensions and enable Developer mode.

4. Click Load unpacked and select the atlas-sidebar folder.

5. To read local file:// PDFs, open the extension details page and enable Allow access to file URLs.

Privacy

Atlas Sidebar has no remote backend, telemetry, or advertising. It requires no API key, never sends ChatGPT messages automatically, and does not save or export cookies, tokens, passwords, or account credentials. Settings, saved prompts, staged material, and page lists remain in the current browser's local extension storage until you choose to transfer or remove them.
