I studied Biology at the University of Barcelona. After completing my degree, I decided to specialize in Bioinformatics while working outside the scientific field at PwC and the YMCA.
Once I finished my Bioinformatics studies, I joined the Proteomics Unit at the Institut Josep Carreras. There, I analyzed proteomics data generated by the facility in collaboration with different research groups. A major part of my work involved standardizing and maintaining R pipelines used for sample quality control.
After nearly two years working in proteomics, I shifted my focus from proteins to genes and started working as a Bioinformatician at the Clinical Genomics Unit of the Germans Trias i Pujol Hospital.
My main role at the hospital involves maintaining and improving the bioinformatics pipelines used to analyze targeted DNA-panel sequencing and whole-exome sequencing data. At the moment I am also working with RNA-Seq, Long Read Sequencing (Nanopore) and SNP Array data (GeneTitan).
I primarily work with R, and since I began working in high-performance computing environments, I have grown particularly interested in workflow management with Snakemake and containerized software using Singularity.
