- Dataset projection: HiPS tiling using the coordinates of every image to map the original images based on their distance to the closest HEALPix pixel cell center.
- Distortion correction: converts the flat-grid image into one where each pixel's color is sampled from the correct angular position on the sphere, effectively "unwarping" the HEALPix tile geometry.
