Companions brings four artificial intelligence helpers to your desktop. These tools assist with organizing your schedule, sparking creativity, managing deep thoughts, and writing code. You keep full control of your data by hosting this software on your own computer.
Follow these steps to put Companions on your Windows computer:
- Visit this page to download the software.
- Look for the section labeled "Assets" under the most recent version.
- Click the link that ends in ".exe" to save the installer to your computer.
- Locate the file in your Downloads folder once the transfer finishes.
- Double-click the file to start the installation process.
- Follow the prompts on your screen to finish the setup for Windows.
Each of the four built-in helpers serves a unique purpose:
- The Organizer: This tool keeps your tasks and schedule in order. It reminds you of deadlines and helps you plan your day.
- The Creative: Use this helper to brainstorm ideas for projects. It offers suggestions to help you overcome writer’s block or design struggles.
- The Reflection Vault: This is a safe space for your thoughts. You record daily reflections here, and the AI helps you look for patterns in your personal growth.
- The Coder: This tool writes and checks code. It helps you build small programs or fix errors in your scripts.
Your computer needs to meet these basic standards to run Companions:
- Operating System: Windows 10 or Windows 11.
- Processor: A modern dual-core processor or better.
- Memory: At least 8 gigabytes of RAM.
- Storage: 500 megabytes of free space for the core program.
- Network: A connection to the internet for the initial setup and updates.
The first time you open Companions, the program walks you through a few choices. You pick which helpers you want to activate. You also set a storage location for your data. Because you host this software yourself, you decide exactly where your files live. The program makes a local folder on your hard drive to secure your information.
You interact with each helper through a simple chat window. Type your request just like you would talk to a person.
For example, when you use the Organizer, you might type: "Add a meeting at 2:00 PM today." The tool updates your schedule. If you use the Coder, you might type: "Fix this code error" and paste your snippet below. The helper analyzes the request and provides the corrected version.
You can run all four helpers at the same time if your computer memory allows it. Each one stays in its own window to keep your workspace clear.
These tools run on your local machine. This means your personal notes and code do not leave your computer. You keep ownership of every piece of data you create. There are no cloud accounts or monthly subscriptions to manage.
Do I need to be a developer to use this? No. You do not need to know programming languages. The installation is standard for Windows software. The interface uses plain language.
Does this work without the internet? The tools require the internet to download updates or search for new data. Many core tasks work offline once the program is fully loaded.
How do I remove the program? Go to your Windows Settings, select Apps, find Companions in the list, and click Uninstall. This removes the program from your system.
Can I move my data to another computer? Yes. Copy the data folder you chose during your first setup to a USB drive. You then move that folder to your new computer and point the software at the new location.
If the software does not open, try these steps:
- Restart your computer. This clears temporary memory errors.
- Ensure no other firewall or security software blocks the program. Some security tools flag new software as a risk even if it is safe to use.
- Check your hard drive space. The software needs at least 500 megabytes to run correctly.
- Reinstall the program. Download the file again from the link provided in the Getting Started section.
Ensure your Windows version is up to date to maintain compatibility with the latest features. If you continue to see errors, the issue often relates to hardware limits. Close unused programs in the background to free up memory for your AI helpers.
