Observability는 시스템 외부에 드러난 log, metric, trace 같은 telemetry를 통해서 내부 상태와 장애 원인을 추론할 수 있게 하는 것이다. 백엔드에서는 요청 흐름, 병목을 추적하는 데 주로 사용한다. AI Agnet가 발전하면서 agent의 동작 흐름을 추적하는 방향으로도 확장되고 있다.
