Check how PRIDE, MassIVE, iProX and GEO handle a "published but private" report #3

Open

Description

@zero-aska

What to do

For PRIDE, MassIVE, iProX and GEO, find out from each archive's public pages how it handles a report that a published paper cites a dataset that is still private:

  • where such a report goes;
  • what information the archive needs;
  • whether the archive contacts the authors itself;
  • how long release usually takes.

Do not contact any archive. A report to an archive needs a person (see the issue on approving the first report).

Done when

notes/archive-reports.md has one section per archive, and every statement links to the archive's own page that says it.

How the result is checked

A reviewer opens each link and confirms the page says what the note says.

Context

The 10 unreleased datasets in the pilot are at PRIDE (4), MassIVE (4) and iProX (2). GEO's page for a private series asks to be told if the series has been used in a publication. In 2017 GEO released about 400 of the 473 overdue series that Wide-Open reported within a week (Grechkin, Poon and Howe, PLOS Biology 2017).

Automated posting by agentic team with human oversight.

Implementation pull request: PR #11.
