AI tools invent import statements for npm packages that don't exist. The name then sits unclaimed in your repository, which means anyone can publish it — with a postinstall script that runs on your next npm install, before you read a line of it. ghostimport checks names against the live registry the moment your agent writes them, as an MCP server and agent hook rather than a linter you have to remember to run.
