YouTube Downloader

A lightweight, simple, and self-contained GUI program to download videos and extract audio from YouTube URLs. Built with Python and yt-dlp.

Features

• Format Selection: Choose between downloading Audio (MP3, M4A, WAV, FLAC) or Video (MP4, WEBM, MKV).
• GUI Interface (Tkinter): Simple user interface to paste multiple URLs and select an output folder without touching the command line.
• Concurrent Downloading: Automatically downloads multiple links at the same time to save time.
• Auto-Environment Setup: If running from the source code, the script automatically installs required dependencies (yt-dlp) and fetches a local copy of ffmpeg for Windows.

Usage (For Beginners)

If you just want to use the program without installing Python:

1. Go to the Releases page (Will be added soon).
2. Download YoutubeDownloader_Light.exe or YoutubeDownloader.exe.
3. Double-click the .exe file.
   • Note: YoutubeDownloader_Light.exe will download ffmpeg automatically the first time you run it.
4. Paste your YouTube links, choose Audio/Video, click Download, and enjoy!

Alternatively, you can run from the Python source:

Prerequisites

• Python 3.8+

Running the code

1. Clone this repository.
2. Run the 실행하기.bat file OR run the following command in terminal:

python youtube_audio_downloader.py

Note: The script will automatically install yt-dlp using pip and download the Windows ffmpeg binary to a local .bin folder if not found globally on your system.

Code Structure

• youtube_audio_downloader.py: The main script handling the UI, auto-setup, and threading. Includes a fallback __main__ self-test block if triggered with arguments.
• 실행하기.bat: A wrapper for Windows users to easily launch the python script by double-clicking.
