06 Content Editor Guide
This guide helps content editors understand and use Meta Momentum to optimize content for search engines and social media.
Meta Momentum is a tool that helps you control:
- How your page appears in Google search results
- How your page looks when shared on Facebook, Twitter/X, and LinkedIn
- Whether search engines should index your page
The Meta Momentum editor has two main sections:
Controls how your page appears in Google and other search engines.
Controls how your page looks when shared on social media platforms.

At the top, you'll see a preview of how your page will appear in Google search results, including:
- Your site URL and page path
- The title (blue clickable text)
- The description (gray text below title)
This preview updates in real-time as you make changes.
Click the "Customise" toggle to edit the title and description.
Recommended: 45-60 characters
Tips:
- Keep it concise and descriptive
- Include your main keyword
- Make it compelling to encourage clicks
- The counter turns orange at 45 characters (warning) and red at 60 characters (danger)
❌ Bad: Home ✅ Good: Eco-Friendly Cleaning Products | CleanCo
Character Limit: 160 characters
Recommended: 150-160 characters
Tips:
- Provide a clear summary of the page
- Include a call-to-action
- Use natural language
- The counter turns orange at 150 characters (warning) and red at 160 characters (danger)
Example: ❌ Bad: We sell cleaning products. ✅ Good: Discover our range of eco-friendly cleaning products for homes and businesses. Free shipping on orders over $50. Shop now!
Write a compelling description
If you leave the title or description blank, Meta Momentum automatically uses content from other fields on your page (configured by your developer).
How it works:
- If you enter a custom title/description, that's used
- If blank, it falls back to other content fields (e.g., Page Title, Introduction)
- If those are blank, it uses the page name
The preview always shows what will actually appear in search results.
Toggle Options:
- ✅ Allow search engines to index this page (Green) - Normal pages
- ❌ Discourage search engines from indexing this page (Gray) - Hidden pages
When to use No-Index:
- Thank you pages
- Temporary landing pages
- Duplicate content
- Internal-use pages
- Pages under construction
Important: No-index doesn't guarantee the page won't appear in search results, but it strongly discourages it.

Switch between three platforms to see how your content appears when shared:
- Shows the largest image preview
- Displays site name, title, and description
- Most common sharing platform
- Shows a Twitter Card with medium-sized image
- Includes your site URL
- Designed for tweet-style sharing
- Professional network preview
- Shows title and site URL prominently
- Smaller image compared to Facebook
Click the "Customise" toggle to override the social share content.
Tips:
- Can be different from your SEO title
- More casual or attention-grabbing language is okay
- No strict character limit, but keep it concise
Example:
- SEO Title: Eco-Friendly Cleaning Products | CleanCo
- Share Title: 🌱 Clean Your Home & Save the Planet
Tips:
- Can be more conversational than SEO description
- Focus on why someone should click
- Include emojis if appropriate for your brand
Example:
- SEO Description: Discover our range of eco-friendly cleaning products...
- Share Description: Join thousands making the switch to eco-friendly cleaning! 🌍 Better for you, better for the planet.
Click to select an image from the Media Library.
Image Requirements:
- Minimum 1200x630px recommended
- Landscape orientation works best
- Shows different crops for each platform:
- Facebook: 281x540px
- Twitter: 220x438px
- LinkedIn: 263x520px
Tips:
- Use high-quality, relevant images
- Include text overlay sparingly (may be cropped)
- Avoid important content at edges
- Test how it looks on all three platforms
Fallback: If you don't select an image, Meta Momentum can automatically use images from other fields (configured by your developer).
- Always review the preview - Make sure it looks good before publishing
- Use unique titles and descriptions - Don't duplicate across pages
- Include keywords naturally - Don't stuff keywords
- Think about your audience - What would make them click?
- Title: Make it compelling and specific
- Description: Summarize the key takeaway
- Image: Use eye-catching featured images
- Social: Write share-friendly versions that encourage discussion
- Title: Include product name and key benefit
- Description: Highlight main features and unique selling points
- Image: Use high-quality product photos
- Social: Write persuasive copy that encourages sharing
- Title: Match the ad or campaign that brought users there
- Description: Clear value proposition
- Image: Match your campaign creative
- Consider: Using no-index for temporary campaigns
A: For upload fields (not media picker), you need to save and publish twice due to the way Umbraco works:
- First save uploads the image
- Second save applies it to social meta
A: Social platforms cache meta tags. Use these tools to refresh:
A: Not necessarily. If your fallback fields contain good content, you can leave them blank. Customize when you need different messaging for SEO vs. page content.
A: Meta Momentum can use fallback images from other fields, or social platforms may choose an image from your page automatically.
- Review search preview - does it look good?
- Title is 45-60 characters
- Description is 150-160 characters
- Check all three social previews
- Share image is selected and looks good on all platforms
- No-index is set correctly for the page type
