Summary

Adds 42 new unit tests across 4 previously untested classes to improve test coverage:

  • DisableTutorialSettingTest (14 tests): Covers setting key consistency across all enum variants, LinkedNode cycling (ENABLED → DISABLED → ENABLED), fromString round-trip with case-insensitivity, isDisabled predicate, onSettingChange no-op verification, and expansion key. Follows the established KeepHotbarSlotEmptySettingTest pattern.

  • StateTypeWarningLogTest (5 tests): Validates deduplication behavior — first call logs the warning, same key on second call is suppressed, different keys log independently, and both null and non-null Throwable causes are passed through correctly. Uses Mockito to verify Logger.log() interactions.

  • TitleRewardTypeTest (11 tests): Tests key/expansion key, default constructor serialization (empty strings + default tick values), full serialization round-trip, missing/null key defaults, Number type coercion (Long, Double, short → int), non-numeric fallback to defaults, and scalability contract (getNumericAmount empty, withAmountMultiplier returns same instance). Follows the established MessageRewardTypeTest pattern.

  • SoundRewardTypeTest (12 tests): Tests key/expansion key, null-sound default producing empty map, full round-trip, missing volume/pitch defaulting to 1.0, invalid and missing sound names returning no-op instances, case-insensitive sound parsing, Number type coercion, non-numeric fallback, and scalability contract. Follows the established MessageRewardTypeTest pattern.

Test Plan

  • All 42 new tests pass
  • Full test suite (5121 tests) passes with zero failures via ./gradlew test
  • Testing audit persona reviewed and all findings addressed:
    • Fixed never() verification using wrong throwable reference (used any(Throwable.class) matcher)
    • Changed assertNotNull to assertSame for withAmountMultiplier identity checks
    • Wrapped no-op onSettingChange test in assertDoesNotThrow

Claude PR Review

Verdict: No blocking issues — 2 nits

This is a test-only PR (554 additions, 0 src/main changes across 4 new test files), so the review-testing lens is the only applicable lens per the review routing table; security/architecture/concurrency/error-handling/performance/extensibility/gui-ux/server-owner lenses don't apply since no production code changed.

I read all 4 new test files alongside the source classes they cover (StateTypeWarningLog, SoundRewardType, TitleRewardType, DisableTutorialSetting) and cross-checked against sibling test conventions in quest/reward/builtin/. The tests are accurate against current source behavior (mocking, Number coercion, cycle logic, dedup-by-key semantics all check out) and follow the repo's naming/@DisplayName/@Nested conventions well.

Two lens-verified findings survived, both nits (not blocking):

Nits
  • src/test/java/us/eunoians/mcrpg/combat/state/StateTypeWarningLogTest.java:18 — extends McRPGBaseTest, which boots a full MockBukkit server + McRPG plugin, but no test actually touches Bukkit — StateTypeWarningLog only depends on java.util.logging.Logger and NamespacedKey. Could construct keys via new NamespacedKey("mcrpg", "test_state") (the two-arg, plugin-free constructor) and drop extends McRPGBaseTest for a lighter, purely-unit test.
  • SoundRewardTypeTest.java / TitleRewardTypeTest.java — neither tests grant(Player). Sibling reward-type tests in the same package (CommandRewardTypeCoverageTest, ItemRewardTypeCoverageTest) establish a PlayerMock + assertDoesNotThrow(() -> configured.grant(player)) pattern for this. That said, both SoundRewardType.grant() and TitleRewardType.grant() already wrap their bodies in a catch-all try/catch that only logs, so an assertDoesNotThrow test would pass trivially regardless of whether the sound/title actually fired — low verification value as-is, which is likely why this PR (matching the equally grant()-less MessageRewardTypeTest pattern it cites) skipped it. Not blocking, just noting the inconsistency across reward-type test files for future cleanup.

I also checked whether parseConfig(Section) (the YAML-loading entry point, vs. the tested fromSerializedConfig(Map)) needed coverage — it doesn't add anything new here: none of the established sibling tests (MessageRewardTypeTest, CommandRewardTypeCoverageTest, etc.) test parseConfig either, so this PR is consistent with existing convention rather than introducing a gap.

These changes add unit tests only; runtime behavior is unchanged. A few tests miss an existing null-value crash in title rewards, and one test can fail on machines with a Turkish system locale. Neither issue blocks merge, but both are worth addressing.

116-116: 🎯 Functional Correctness | 🟡 Minor | ⚡ Quick win

Make the case-insensitivity test independent of the default locale.

When the JVM default locale is Turkish, SoundRewardType.fromSerializedConfig() converts entity_player_levelup to a name containing a dotted capital İ. The parser then returns a no-op reward, and this test fails. Use Locale.ROOT in both production sound-name parsing paths. Exercise the Turkish locale in a regression test and restore the previous locale afterward. Java documents this default-locale behavior. (docs.oracle.com)

Do not require an out-of-range pitch to survive deserialization.

This assertion requires SoundRewardType.fromSerializedConfig() to retain pitch 3.0, which grant() later passes to Player.playSound. Paper documents sound pitch in the range 0–2. Use a valid short value to test numeric coercion. Add a separate invalid-pitch test, and reject or clamp the value in production. (docs.papermc.io)

As per coding guidelines, “Config-loading methods must reject or clamp out-of-range values rather than silently accepting them at runtime.”

🩺 Stability & Availability | 🟠 Major | ⚡ Quick win

Test explicit null values, not only missing keys.

This test supplies non-null text and omits the tick keys. It therefore repeats the missing-keys case. If a serialized map contains "title": null or "subtitle": null, TitleRewardType.fromSerializedConfig calls toString() on null and throws. Add explicit null entries and assertions for the text defaults, then fix the restore method to satisfy the test.

As per coding guidelines, “Cover relevant edge cases, including ... malformed or missing configuration values.”
