v1.7.2 - Resilient serial enumeration and automatic GPU rendering fallback
Bugfix release on top of 1.7.1.
Fixed serial port enumeration silently returning an empty list when a single port's USB details couldn't be read (e.g. under snap confinement without raw-usb/hardware-observe granted). One inaccessible device no longer hides every other port, including your actual ESP32 device.
Added automatic GPU rendering fallback: on startup, the app now verifies GL rendering actually works before opening its window. On hybrid Intel/NVIDIA laptops where the default driver selection fails under snap confinement, it automatically retries with NVIDIA PRIME render-offload; if that's not enough it falls back to software rendering with a clear on-screen notice, instead of a blank or crashed window. The result is cached so this only runs once per hardware configuration - a "re-detect" option is available in Settings -> About.
Packaging: the snap now bundles pciutils so GPU vendor detection works reliably inside strict confinement.
