Hey @EckeFL, thanks for jumping in from the forum thread. 🙏

First PR on HAIR, appreciate it. 🍻

I'm taking your Konvertiere line as is, and the anlernen wording on the Plucker bullet. That's clearly the right word and I learned something. One tweak there: should it be "Übernimm ihn."?

Two I'm going to keep the old way. "Schnüffle ihn" is a little goofy on purpose, that bullet is the Sniffer tab, and auslesen is really what the Plucker does (pulling stored codes out of a device). And I want to keep "Perücke" instead of "WIG-Datei" since the whole German panel already says Perücke everywhere. The closet full of wigs is kind of the joke of the app, so the README has to play along. Also heads up, I think it would be "eine geteilte WIG-Datei" there, singular...?

If you update the branch that way I'll merge it under your name.

And if the German in the panel itself ever makes you wince, that dictionary file could use a native reviewer too, your name goes in it: Adding a language

Danke! 🍻

"To sniff" is "schnüffeln" but in german it has only the meaning that you sniff with your nose. There is no use in a tec way. So you can't translate it in this way.

"Perücke" is in Germany a piece of fake hair to wear on your head. I had no clou what you want to say if you use "Perücke"

Thank you, thank you, thank you! 🙏

I think I got it. I didn't know "schnüffeln" only reads as the nose kind in German. In English "sniff" picked up a second meaning from network tools, grabbing signals out of the air, but if that doesn't carry over then Schnüffle is just confusing instead of clever. So let's drop it.

The only snag is "auslesen" feels more like what the Plucker does, reading codes out of a device that already stored them. The Sniffer is more like catching a signal live out of the air, off a remote you point at it. What word would you reach for there? You've got the ear for it and I don't.

On Perücke you actually turned me around. If a native reads it and can't tell what it means, that's the whole problem. So I think the fix is to keep "Wig" untranslated, the same way Sniffer and Clipper stay English. It's a made-up name for the feature, so it can stay an English word and the joke comes along with it. Translating it to Perücke is what kills it.

Which probably means the panel needs the same thing, since it says Perücke all over. That's a bigger job than this README, and it's the kind of thing a native eye catches and mine never will. If you're up for it, the panel dictionary could really use you, and your name goes in it: Adding a language.

Once we land on the Sniffer word, update the branch with that, the singular Wig-Datei, and Übernimm, and I'll merge it under your name.

Danke for pushing back. This is the stuff I can't see from the English side. 🍻

Yes. I think to use "Sniff" is the best way to go

Thank you, again. I really appreciate your work here. 😊

Perfect, "Sniff" it is, and it seems to fit. The tab names stay English (Sniffer, Clipper, Plucker), so the verb riding along in English keeps it consistent.

So the final set for the branch: "Sniff" on the Sniffer bullet, keep "Wig" with the singular "Wig-Datei" on the closet bullet, and "Übernimm ihn" on the Plucker one. Your zusammenstellen and anlernen lines stay, those were the good ones.

Push those to the branch and I'll merge it straight away under your name. And if hand-editing the German is a hassle, just say so and I'll drop the changes onto your branch myself, you stay the author either way.

If you find any other poor German translations in the UI, please let me know or pull another request. That was also translated by my coding agent and his German isn't the best. 💈

Danke, this landed better than where it started. 🍻

German (#64, @EckeFL): Konvertiere rewrite and the anlernen Plucker
bullet taken (imperative corrected to Uebernimm); Sniffer and wig
bullets kept per the project glossary discussed on the PR.
Spanish (#67, @Waterbrain): full 198-key native pass lands; four small
slips fixed (Mando vacio, Sniffer tagline restores 'desde el aire',
NO DETECTADAS gender, Plucker stays Plucker), wig/closet vocabulary
(peluca, Armario) restored on 17 keys per the same glossary ruling,
and _meta.review now credits @Waterbrain as the dictionary's reviewer.
Compiled bundle intentionally NOT rebuilt here; it rides with the next
code push (owner call, 2026-07-26).

Merged! I went ahead and made the small tweaks from my earlier comment myself so this could land rather than wait on your schedule: took your Konvertiere line and the anlernen bullet (with "Übernimm"), kept Schnüffle and Perücke per the earlier reasoning. Your name is on the commit.

The de.json offer stands whenever you feel like it. Danke for being HAIR's first German contributor. 🍻
