Hi! This is exactly a feature I'd love to see, and I can offer both concrete design thoughts and a working reference implementation.
Current gap. Nothing in the export path renders text into the exported pixels today. The border options added in #1766 (Add Border / Pad to Aspect Ratio) are solid fills with their own colour pickers — as noted in that PR, it does not render the capture date onto the image — and the watermark is image-based: it takes a PNG path and composites it (WatermarkSettings { path, anchor, scale, spacing, opacity }). The Productivity > Frame Image collage modal has layouts, spacing, corner radius and a background colour, but no text layer either. The recent EXIF/XMP export work (e.g. #1896, #1897) makes the metadata inside the file more complete, but that's the container — nothing draws any of it onto the image. So the "magazine-style" framed export with camera / lens / EXIF text under the photo can't be reached with any combination of the existing options.
Reference implementation. I'm the author of FrameLab, a free desktop tool built for exactly this use case — magazine-style frames with an EXIF info band (https://github.com/yuhaowang774/FrameLabdesktop):
Capabilities that could inspire a minimal version in RapidRAW:
A bottom info band: a widened bottom border showing camera model, lens, focal length, aperture, shutter speed, ISO and capture date — each field independently toggleable.
Auto-filled from EXIF. RapidRAW already reads all of these for the metadata panel, so the data is right there.
Adjustable font size and colour, with the band height expressed as a percentage of the frame.
Drawn in the final stage so the text is rasterized at the output resolution and stays crisp.
Suggested minimal scope.#1766 established the pipeline order border → pad → resize → watermark, and Add Border already takes separate Top & Bottom and Left & Right amounts — so a bottom info band is a natural extension of what's already there:
Add an optional info band to the border step, with per-field toggles plus font size / colour.
Draw it in the watermark stage — last, after Resize to Fit — so the text is rendered at the final resolution instead of being downscaled with the image.
