Answers to common questions about CyberViewer, its configuration, and everyday use.
CyberViewer is a Windows image viewer for opening files, browsing folders, zooming and panning, making light edits, and presenting images as a slideshow.
Yes. CyberViewer is free and open source under the GPLv3 license. See the Donate section if you would like to support the project.
CyberViewer supports JPG, JPEG, PNG, GIF, WebP, BMP, TIFF, TIF, ICO, and AVIF.
The Windows installer registers CyberViewer for the supported image extensions. Windows may still ask you to choose it under Settings > Apps > Default apps. Portable builds may require manual association.
Open an image or folder, then use the thumbnail sidebar, arrow keys, or A and D to navigate. The sidebar can be shown from the action bar or configured to open with the app.
Yes. GIF playback is enabled by default in the viewer and thumbnail sidebar. To freeze GIFs, disable Settings > Interface > Animated GIFs.

Press Enter or G, click the fullscreen button, or use the View menu. Press Escape to leave fullscreen when no higher-priority modal or slideshow action is active.
The sidebar is populated after CyberViewer has an image path from a folder. Open a folder or show the sidebar with its edge handle. Thumbnail generation runs in the background and can be paused by hiding the sidebar.
Yes. Press Q to rotate left or E to rotate right. Rotation is previewed first. Use Save or Enter to commit it to the current file, or Discard and Escape to restore the original orientation.
Yes. Open Crop or press C, adjust the frame, and choose Apply. Crop mode starts from the original orientation and defaults to creating a _cropped copy.
Yes. Open Resize or press R, enter dimensions or choose a preset, select the resampling algorithm, and apply the result. The default is to create a copy.
Yes. Open Adjust or press J to change brightness, contrast, saturation, blur, grayscale, and invert. The panel includes a live preview and a momentary A/B comparison. The default is to create a copy.
Crop, resize, and color adjustments default to creating new files. Turning off Apply to a copy explicitly allows those tools to overwrite the source. Rotation remains pending until saved, while flips always create a copy and preserve the original.
Press S, click the slideshow button, or choose View > Slideshow > Start. Playback starts immediately and uses the current folder image list.
Yes. Choose 2, 3, 5, or 10 seconds from the presentation bar or Settings > Slideshow. The selected interval is saved for later sessions.

Yes. Use File > Set as wallpaper and choose Fill, Fit, Center, or Span.
This can happen with a new unsigned release while Windows builds reputation for the installer. See Installation and Setup for the steps to continue.
CyberViewer streams local images through its local protocol, but very large files still need time to decode. Folder thumbnails are generated separately in a background queue.
Check that the sidebar is visible and the folder contains supported image files. Thumbnail generation is prioritized around the active image. You can clear the cache from Settings > Backup & Data and let it rebuild.
Open Settings > System and verify the configured shortcut. Another application may already own the accelerator. Select a different combination, or click the field and use Backspace or Delete to clear it.
For an installed build, try launching it again after closing any stale process and check Windows Event Viewer if the problem persists. When running from source, install dependencies with npm install before using npm start.
Re-run the installer or choose CyberViewer manually under Windows Settings > Apps > Default apps. For the Explorer right-click entry, enable Settings > System > Context menu.
