Open index.html in a browser to use the app.

The app uses data/clean/baby_names_master.csv, generated by:

python scripts/clean_data.py

Drop new CSV files into data/raw/, add an entry to scripts/source_manifest.json, then rerun the script. Raw CSVs can already be normalized with this header:

The cleaner also accepts common aliases such as gender for sex and calculates rank when count data is present.

Important data note: Australia does not have one official national baby-name dataset. Public datasets are usually released by state or territory, and many publish only top-100 names. “Not listed” means the name was outside the published list or unavailable, not that it had zero births.
