Library Graph
The Library Graph turns multi-artist credits in your music into a visual map. Each node is an artist. A line connects two artists when they are credited on the same tracks; a stronger line means more shared tracks.
Enable Settings > Experimental > Library Graph, then select Open Full Map. You can also open it through Quick Launch.
The graph reads your existing Astra metadata. It does not contact an online music database and does not infer relationships beyond the credits in your library.
- Global Graph maps the collaboration network across the library. It is best for seeing large groups and the links between them.
- Local Graph focuses on one artist and a manageable number of nearby collaborators. Use Show More when the focused artist has additional hidden neighbors, or Show Full Graph to return to the global map.
At a distant zoom, labels identify useful anchor artists in clusters. These are navigation aids, not automatically named genres or scenes.
- Drag empty space to pan.
- Scroll to zoom.
- Hover over a node to trace its visible connections.
- Click a node to inspect it.
- Double-click a node to open that artist in the Library.
- Click empty space to close the current inspection.
Use the settings button in the graph to search, change edge strength, re-center the view, or switch between Local and Global modes.
Edge Strength sets the minimum number of shared tracks needed for a visible line:
- 1+ reveals one-off collaborations and creates the densest map.
- 2+ is the default balance for most libraries.
- 3+ and 4+ emphasize recurring relationships and reduce visual noise.
The filter changes what is visible, not your metadata. If it hides every relationship in the current graph, Astra temporarily shows weaker links and tells you at the bottom of the view.
Enter an artist in Find artist. Astra prefers an exact match, then prefix and partial matches. If the artist is not useful in the current global view, Astra can focus a Local Graph on that artist.
Clicking a node opens an inspector with:
- the artist's track count and number of currently visible links;
- Open In Library and Local Graph actions;
- up to ten visible connected artists, ordered by shared-track count;
- a comparison for the selected connection, including shared tracks, shared releases, and examples from your library.
The counts depend on the current edge filter and mode. “Visible links” is not necessarily every collaboration credited anywhere in the library.
- Add and scan music first if Astra reports that the library has no tracks.
- The graph requires shared artist credits. A library in which every track has exactly one credited artist has no edges to draw.
- Check that collaborations are stored as separate multi-value artist credits, then rescan after correcting tags.
- Use Edge Strength 1+ when a small library has only one-off collaborations.
