This is a fork of xperiments/xspool-bin, the original repo that hosted the Web installer for the XSpool firmware (an ESP32-based filament / spool tracker for 3D printers).

The official installer at https://xspool.com/install is offline, and the project appears abandoned upstream (the public firmware hasn't changed since April 2025). XSpool owners were left with no easy way to re-flash their device. This fork brings the installer back online, with no dependency on xspool.com.

What we did — and did not do

• Added: flash-manifest.json + flash-manifest-dev.json (ESP Web Tools manifests pointing to the firmware already present in webusb/, instead of the dead xspool.com links), and an index.html installer page with two buttons (Stable / Beta).
• Enabled: GitHub Pages (main) to serve the page over HTTPS (required by the Web Serial API).
• Not changed: the firmware (.bin files, original and untouched) and the project logic. The old index.html (which pointed to xspool.com) was simply replaced by the self-contained page; the original stays in the Git history and on the upstream repo. This is a rescue mirror, not a development fork.

Re-flash your XSpool

1. Open https://benglut.github.io/xspool-bin/ in Chrome or Edge on desktop (Web Serial is not supported on Firefox, Safari, or mobile).
2. Plug your ESP32 in via USB.
3. Click INSTALLER (stable) (v0.0.1506, recommended) or INSTALLER (beta) (v0.0.1647, newer, not guaranteed stable).
4. Pick the serial port, let the flash finish, then continue with the device's usual Wi-Fi setup.

Installing the beta: on the same page, click the INSTALLER (beta) button (right-hand card). If anything goes wrong, re-install the stable version over it.

Ce dépôt est une copie (fork) de xperiments/xspool-bin, le dépôt d'origine qui hébergeait l'installateur Web du firmware XSpool (suivi de bobines / filaments pour imprimantes 3D, sur carte ESP32).

L'installateur officiel https://xspool.com/install ne répond plus (site hors-ligne) et le projet semble abandonné côté source (firmware inchangé depuis avril 2025). Les possesseurs de XSpool n'avaient donc plus aucun moyen simple de réinstaller leur appareil. Ce fork réactive l'installateur sans dépendre de xspool.com.

Ce qu'on a fait — et pas fait

• Ajouté : flash-manifest.json + flash-manifest-dev.json (manifestes ESP Web Tools pointant vers les firmwares déjà présents dans webusb/, au lieu des liens morts xspool.com), et une page index.html à deux boutons (Stable / Beta).
• Activé : GitHub Pages (main) pour servir la page en HTTPS (requis par l'API Web Serial).
• Non modifié : le firmware (.bin originaux, à l'identique) et la logique du projet. L'ancien index.html (qui pointait vers xspool.com) a juste été remplacé par la page autonome ; l'original reste dans l'historique Git et sur le dépôt source. C'est une remise en ligne, pas un fork de développement.

Réinstaller votre XSpool

1. Ouvrez https://benglut.github.io/xspool-bin/ dans Chrome ou Edge sur ordinateur (Web Serial non supporté sur Firefox, Safari, mobile).
2. Branchez l'ESP32 en USB.
3. Cliquez INSTALLER (stable) (v0.0.1506, recommandé) ou INSTALLER (beta) (v0.0.1647, plus récente, non garantie).
4. Choisissez le port série, laissez le flash se terminer, puis faites la config Wi-Fi habituelle.

Installer la beta : sur la même page, cliquez le bouton INSTALLER (beta) (carte de droite). En cas de souci, réinstallez la stable par-dessus.
