There was a problem hiding this comment.
The json serialization logic should be added to ApplicationEntrySerializer so that it can be used to export to json from the main application if necessary.
If xml is used as format then an unsupported format exception is thrown, even though xml is supported.
Otherwise the code is good.

Moved the json serialization into ApplicationEntrySerializer so the main app can reuse it, and /F=xml is now accepted for both list and export (list prints the xml document to stdout, export takes the existing xml path). Ready for another look. |
…l as an explicit format Addresses review feedback: the serializer now lives in UninstallTools so the main application can reuse it, and /F=xml no longer errors out (list prints the xml document to stdout, export uses the existing xml file path).

Closes #946
Adds an opt-in
/F=jsonswitch (--format=jsonalso accepted) to thelistandexportsubcommands:list /F=jsonprints a JSON array of installed applications to standard output.export apps.json /F=jsonwrites the same JSON to a file instead of the default XML.ApplicationUninstallerEntry(name, version, publisher, install location/date, uninstall strings, uninstaller kind, size, registry info, flags). To make the output actually machine-parseable:
listcontains only the JSON document (e.g.BCU-console list /F=json | jq .).Defaults are unchanged - without the switch,
liststill prints the plaintext table andexportstill writes XML.
