As we navigate through 2026, type 1 diabetes technology has evolved significantly. This repository serves as a centralized hub for advanced, modern T1D workflows, bridging the gap between open-source automated insulin delivery (AID) and smart home automation.
We now leverage a powerful interconnected ecosystem, including:
* **Nightscout & Cloud Infrastructure:** Real-time data aggregation hosted reliably via modern deployment platforms like Heroku.
* **Closed-Loop & AID Systems:** Integrating advanced applications like **AndroidAPS (AAPS)** and **xDrip+** to manage and automate glucose control.
* **Smartwatches & Wearables:** Direct data visibility on wrist-worn devices for glanceable management.
* **Home Assistant:** Advanced smart home integrations utilizing Text-to-Speech (TTS) routines, custom REST sensors, and local voice assistant triggers to announce blood glucose levels and trends out loud.

## 🕰️ Background & Community Mission
When I first joined the xDrip community back in 2017, documentation was scarce. By 2018, I began creating GitHub video tutorials to help others navigate the steep learning curve. Managing type 1 diabetes while tackling complex technology comes with unique challenges—including navigating my own health hurdles and dyslexia.
Because this is a personal hobby project, updates depend on my available time and energy. Nightscout and companion apps change rapidly, so while multiple server options exist, I primarily focus on the Heroku configurations I know best.
### Why Community Matters
Collaboration and knowledge-sharing significantly advance support for diabetics globally. Rapid changes in technology require a collective effort to explore innovations in wearables, pump integrations, and data-sharing platforms.
