Follow-up to #14 from the R3 end-to-end run on a throwaway Azure DevOps project (*.visualstudio.com org, UAE North, classic Azure OpenAI with gpt-5-mini, metrics behind Entra). The review posted 4 of 4 comments, a second push posted no duplicates, and the metrics event arrived behind auth. These are the docs that tripped the setup, plus one wrong line from #14.

Commits

  1. CHANGELOG correction. Release 1.0.0: CHANGELOG entry and ModuleVersion (R1, R2) #14 said the dashboard's engine version table would list 1.0.0. It shows the templates repo's tag (v1.0.0 once tagged) or short commit; R3 showed 8fb9122. ModuleVersion is not used there.
  2. Setup docs.
    • README step 1: a new project's default repo is named after the project, so name: <project>/pullpicket fails if you import into it.
    • README step 2: classic Azure OpenAI needs foundryTokenResource: 'https://cognitiveservices.azure.com'.
    • README step 3: the org must be connected to Entra before a service principal can be added as a user; the automatic connection's Contributor role is not needed.
    • infra/README: register resource providers on a new subscription; setup-entra.sh may fall back to api://<client id>.
    • Troubleshooting: "Given email address ... is invalid" and "The repository ... could not be retrieved".

Left for 1.1

  • Dashboard shows est. cost $0.00 for sub-cent runs (two-decimal rounding).
  • "Most-commented files" counts runs per file, not comments.

Docs only; no code or template changes.

The engine version in metrics events is the templates repository's git
tag at HEAD, or its short commit, not ModuleVersion. The end-to-end test
(R3) showed the commit hash, so the 1.0.0 intro now says that.

- Quick start: a new project's default repository is named after the
project; classic Azure OpenAI needs foundryTokenResource; adding a
service principal needs the org connected to Entra; the automatic
connection's Contributor role is not needed.
- infra/README: register the resource providers first; setup-entra.sh
may fall back to api://<client id>.
- Troubleshooting: "Given email address is invalid" when adding the
identity, and "repository could not be retrieved".
