I go by Abdelrhman-AK—using "AK" as a nod to my father's initials, a small personal tradition I’ve carried with me, and I live in Tanta, Egypt.

By nature, I’m an introvert. I’ve always found more comfort in ideas than in crowds, preferring to observe, analyze, and understand rather than be the loudest voice in the room. I tend to think more than I talk and build more than I socialize. While that quietness has sometimes been mistaken for distance, it’s simply how my mind works: I spend most of my time turning complex ideas over in my head.

I’m also a geek. I’ve always been drawn to technology, software, and programming not just as tools, but as puzzles waiting to be solved. I love the patience it takes to dig deep and figure out how things work when the answers aren't obvious.

Interestingly, medicine and programming have always felt remarkably similar to me. Both are disciplines of complex systems—one biological, one digital. Both require identifying what’s broken, navigating uncertainty, and piecing together solutions step by step. The subject matter changes, but the analytical mindset is identical.

I am not a developer, but as I mentioned before I loved this as a hobby (Not my real profession). One of the projects that represents this side of me best is WinPaletter — a Windows customization tool I develop and maintain.

WinPaletter started from a simple fascination with how much of Windows can be customized beneath the surface. It has grown into a portable tool for customizing Windows colors, visual styles, cursors, fonts, metrics, terminals, wallpaper, sounds, icons, effects, and more — with an emphasis on giving users control over the details of their desktop experience.

It’s the kind of project I enjoy most: taking a complicated system, understanding how its pieces fit together, and turning that understanding into something people can actually use.

I’m happiest when I’m learning something difficult, solving a problem that doesn’t have an obvious answer, or building something simply because I want to understand how it works.

When I first created WinPaletter, I was completely healthy. But everything shifted after I developed Sudden Sensororineural Hearing Loss (SSNHL) in my left ear in March 2025, leaving me with permanent, relentless tinnitus.

Dealing with that kind of sudden change is heavy, and for a while, everything stopped. But when the ringing gets too loud, programming and studying became my way out.

Writing code demands a specific kind of hyper-focus. When you're tracking down a weird bug or holding a logic tree in your head, everything else gets pushed to the background. The noise doesn't vanish, but it fades into static against the problem on the screen.

That’s why I found my way back to programming. I didn't just miss building things; I needed that clean, absorbing focus that only a tough problem and a blank editor can bring.
