Brain Extension

Brain Extension is a robust, containerized backend architecture designed to facilitate Cognitive Augmentation through persistent memory systems and semantic data processing. This infrastructure serves as the computational cortex for distributed client applications, enabling high-fidelity data retention, vector-based context retrieval, and real-time neural visualization.

The system is engineered to emulate biological cognitive functions, specifically memory encoding, consolidation (Dreaming Protocol), and associative retrieval, translating them into scalable software patterns using modern Node.js runtime environments and NoSQL vector databases.


System Architecture

The application is architected as an Evolutionary Microservices-Ready Monolith, prioritizing strict modularity and separation of concerns via Domain-Driven Design (DDD) principles..


Security Protocol: Brain Shield Middleware

Security is enforced via a custom middleware layer, the Brain Shield, which implements a strict Header-Based Authentication Mechanism. Access is governed by a proprietary middleware layer, the Brain Shield, which enforces a Zero-Trust Security Model via strict header-based authentication.



Infrastructure & Deployment

The system is deployed using a production-optimized Containerization Strategy, leveraging multi-stage Docker builds and aggressive layer caching to ensure minimal artifact size and rapid deployment latency.


API Specification

The interface exposes several high-level domain controllers:

  • /auth/*: Handles JSON Web Token (JWT) issuance and cryptographic credential validation.
  • /brain/*: The primary cognitive interface. Accepts natural language queries, performs vector similarity searches, and returns synthesized context. Includes the GET /graph endpoint for visualization data.
  • /memory/*: CRUD operations for raw memory ingestion and retrieval.
  • /files/*: Handles multipart/form-data ingestion for binary assets (images/documents) using Multer streams.
  • /health: System diagnostic endpoint returning uptime metrics and service status.
