1nodes gives merchants two ways to accept cryptocurrency payments.
Use the standard 1nodes payment gateway with percentage-based transaction fees. Payments are processed through 1nodes and automatically verified, while EDD payment statuses are updated when payments are confirmed.
The non-custodial option is designed for merchants who prefer to receive crypto directly in their own wallet.
Using XPUB, payment addresses can be generated for customer transactions without giving 1nodes access to your private keys. Payments go directly to the merchant's wallet rather than being held by 1nodes.
This option uses a monthly subscription instead of percentage-based transaction fees.
Important: Never share your wallet seed phrase or private keys. 1nodes does not need them to process non-custodial payments.

When a customer selects 1nodes at checkout:
- The plugin creates a cryptocurrency payment through the 1nodes API.
- The customer is redirected to the hosted 1nodes checkout page.
- After the payment is completed, 1nodes sends a signed webhook notification to the store.
- The plugin verifies the webhook signature.
- The corresponding EDD payment is automatically marked as Complete.
- When the customer returns to the store, the plugin can check the payment status while waiting for webhook confirmation.
For non-custodial payments, funds are sent directly to the merchant's wallet using addresses derived through the XPUB-based payment setup.
The non-custodial option allows merchants to receive supported cryptocurrency payments directly to their own wallet.
Payment addresses are generated using an XPUB-based setup. This allows 1nodes to handle payment detection and verification without requiring access to the merchant's private keys.
With non-custodial payments:
- Payments go directly to the merchant's wallet addresses.
- 1nodes does not hold the merchant's funds.
- The merchant keeps control of their private keys.
- Private keys and wallet recovery phrases are not required by the plugin.
- Payment verification and EDD status updates are handled automatically.
Never provide your private key or wallet recovery phrase to 1nodes or enter them into the plugin.
1nodes uses webhooks to notify Easy Digital Downloads when a payment has been successfully completed.
Webhook requests are authenticated using an HMAC-SHA256 signature.
The plugin verifies the webhook signature using the configured Secret Key before processing the payment confirmation.
No manual webhook configuration is required. The plugin automatically generates the callback URL when a payment is created.
The plugin connects to the 1nodes API to create cryptocurrency payment sessions and retrieve hosted checkout URLs.
The API is also used as part of the payment verification process and allows 1nodes to send payment status updates back to Easy Digital Downloads.
1nodes does not require your wallet private keys or recovery phrase for non-custodial payments.
Webhook notifications are verified using the configured Secret Key before payment confirmations are processed.
Keep your Merchant Key and Secret Key private and never share your wallet seed phrase or private keys.
