Summary

A site-wide audit for consistency, proportion and code hygiene, prepared as the v2026 release.

Consistency (visible changes)

Area Before After
AI project titles Large-scale domain expert feedback governance and adaptive review (sentence case; all other titles are Title Case) Large-Scale Domain Expert Feedback Governance and Adaptive Review, plus the other three
About headline Thinking mathematically Thinking Mathematically
Diagram labels System architecture, Analytical framework System Architecture, Analytical Framework
Quotes One curly ’ (About) and one curly “ ” pair (Rough Heston edition); straight everywhere else Straight ASCII quotes throughout
AI date ranges September 2023 to September 2026 September 2023 – September 2026, matching the other 13 entries
US locations Durham, NC, Seattle, USA, Durham, USA (Hybrid), Los Angeles, California, USA (Remote) Durham, North Carolina, Seattle, Washington, Durham, North Carolina (Hybrid), Los Angeles, California (Remote)
Ampersand in a location Shanghai & Suzhou, China Shanghai and Suzhou, China

The AI titles and dates are edited in the canonical manuscript and re-imported with scripts/import-ai-portfolio.mjs. No Chinese or full-width punctuation exists anywhere on the site; the remaining non-ASCII characters are en dashes, legal §/¶, ©, ×, arrows, authored list bullets, notation, and accented names in citations.

Proportion

  • --reading-measure becomes 36rem (about 70 characters of Source Serif 4 at 16px) and now also caps wide article columns. Measured characters per line: desktop articles 64–72, iPad 40–52, phones 31–43.
  • Frames use a 32px inset below 1200px.
  • At 14 widths from 320 to 2560px, no page overflows horizontally, and every role renders at one size (title 30/36, heading 22/24, item 18, body 16).

Shared building blocks

  • Framed lists use global ledger, ledger-item, ledger-title, ledger-body, ledger-prose classes; Read More links use .read-more with one ReadingArrow component. This replaces duplicated rules in home.module.css and Experience.module.css and two copies of the arrow.
  • About's research summaries are plain strings.

Cleanup

  • Removed the ExperienceDisclosure component, which never rendered because no entry has a disclosure; removed its styles, the type field, the unstyled plain-page-intro class, and the unused --dither and --hang-offset tokens.
  • /now/, /education/ and the domain pages are described as alias routes in comments, tests and docs; test assertions about copy that is no longer on the site are removed.
  • docs/ and both READMEs describe the current design only.

Contracts

  • protected-sources.json: 16 hashes refreshed, each for an intended edit listed above.
  • visible-copy-manifest.json: regenerated; changes are limited to the titles, dates, locations, quotes and labels above.
  • ai-research-content.test.mjs pins the new manuscript hash.

Repository

  • npm audit: 0 vulnerabilities. Secret scanning and push protection are on; main requires the build check and blocks force pushes and deletion; workflow actions are SHA-pinned with least-privilege permissions. No secrets, generated files or stray files are tracked.

Test plan

  • npm run check (protected sources, lint, build, 146/146 artifact tests, visible copy)
  • npm run typecheck, npm audit --audit-level=low
  • Typography and overflow measured on the static export at 320, 375, 390, 430, 768, 834, 1024, 1180, 1280, 1366, 1440, 1536, 1920 and 2560px
  • Visual review at iPad portrait (768) and landscape (1024)

…ed UI

Consistency
- Title-case the four AI project titles, the About headline and the diagram
labels, matching every other title on the site.
- Use straight ASCII quotes throughout; the About summary and the Rough
Heston edition were the only curly ones.
- Write every date range with an en dash and every US location as
"City, State"; "Shanghai and Suzhou" follows the site's use of "and".

Reading measure
- Set --reading-measure to 36rem (about seventy characters of Source Serif 4)
and apply it to wide article columns; frames use a 32px inset below 1200px.

Shared building blocks
- Framed lists use global ledger classes and Read More links use .read-more
with one ReadingArrow component, replacing per-page duplicates.
- Research summaries are plain strings.

Cleanup
- Remove the never-rendered ExperienceDisclosure, the unstyled
  plain-page-intro class, and unused tokens.
- Describe /now/, /education/ and the domain pages as alias routes, and drop
test assertions about copy that is no longer on the site.
- Docs and READMEs describe the current design only.
