- rust-version 1.85: a fresh dependency resolution includes crates published with edition 2024, which Cargo reads from 1.85 on. Verified with a lockfile generated by Cargo 1.85 (build and tests pass) and by Cargo 1.84 (fails). README requirements and CHANGELOG updated. - .gitignore: one rule for every hidden local directory except .github, instead of naming individual tools. - Package contents check: the planted stray directory is .scratch.

Minimum Rust version and repository hygiene for 1.12.0. No code or API changes.
rust-versionis 1.85 (was 1.75). A fresh dependency resolution includes crates published with edition 2024, which Cargo reads from 1.85 on. With a lockfile generated by Cargo 1.85, the crate builds and every test passes on Rust 1.85; with Cargo 1.84 the dependency download fails.
