ZenMTP not working with Amazon USB File Transfer on Kindle Colorsoft + Apple Silicon Mac

Hi! I'm having an issue with ZenMTP on a Kindle Colorsoft Signature Edition using a MacBook Pro M4.

After triggering the ZenMTP gesture in KOReader:

• KOReader exits very quickly and returns to the native Kindle OS.
• However, when I connect the USB cable, the Amazon USB File Transfer app doesn't open at all.
• The app appears to hang/freeze, and I have to force quit it. Reopening it doesn't help.
• When I disconnect the USB cable, ZenMTP is triggered again, showing a white screen briefly before returning to KOReader.
• If I manually return to Kindle OS afterward, a new document appears on the device (image below). I'm not sure if this is related to ZenMTP, but the file wasn't there before.

I've already tried reconnecting the cable and reopening USB File Transfer multiple times, with the same result.

Could this be related to macOS/Apple Silicon, the Colorsoft, or something in the way ZenMTP is initializing MTP?

Any suggestions on how I can troubleshoot this would be greatly appreciated!

The cable needs to be plugged in first. Also on my Apple silicon mac, this is gonna sound crazy, and also IDK why but you have to quit (not close) the preview app
