hey folks, im a long time fan of the Winyl and finally I'm starting to think that i will be able to pick this project up and continue it. I will probably fork the repo and start checking the code out on my day off.also im thinking abt adding integrations with smth like soulseek or idk, we'll get there when we get there

im trying my best to make the source code work, but its just a mess, it wont even build so, unless someone here can help me to get proper sources with libraries i will keep trying to make it work, but i dunno when i will manage to make the first commit. or ill just write an another weather player idk, sorry folks, im not the most stable developer here :'>

Honestly, a fork of this would be amazing and I wish you the very best.
It is disappointing to learn that the source code is a bit of a mess and it has slowed you down but you obviously are passionate about it as this is a very old project now and nobody else has bothered to pick it up.

I am not even sure what happened to the original developer. From what I remember it was still gaining traction when development come to a stop.

It was a neat little side player for me that was lite enough and easy to use that it still stayed fresh in my mind after all these years so it would be nice to see it back some day.

I am not aware of anyone attempting to fork this project and the above appears to be the only one perhaps attempting it.
I would love to see it happen but I guess we will see.
Whilst there are a ton of media players out there none seem to meet the simplicity of Winyl even if it is just a side app you use from time to time it was very nice for its day and would still be a nice fit for many today.

I am not sure if anyone is still working on this @alexkx has vanished off of the face of the earth (I hope they are okay) and @Fede654 has not updated his repo for 8 months now.
I still keep coming back to this in the hopes that there will be a new release some day but alas it is not to be.
I am constantly busy procrastinating about how I should go about tagging/ripping my music collection but I would like to hope that Winyl will be there for me some day.

There are several decent players that I tried and use but there is something so sleek, light and enjoyable about Winyl. I enjoyed the radio option too.

I hope the work continues and more people jump on board to help out developing it further because this main repo has been out of action for too many years and a lot has happened since then.
Ideally it would be nice if it became so popular that there would be a linux and apple version too someday. Ultimately this software needs more eyes on it but since it has been defunct for so long it makes it all the harder for people to experience it or be aware of it unless you've been around for as long as some of us have been. lol
