Search Mechanics Improvements #3019

Description

Description of the feature, modification, idea or suggestion

  1. ICONS: On the Disk Search screen, the search bar has Aa icon for Case Match, .* for regex search and a magnifying glass for ... Clear Search. That is most certainly against the standard use of that icon across EVERY platform I am aware of. That icon is exclusively for Execute the Search.

A missing icon is an X, also universal for Clear the Text Box/UI element it is attached to.

The above applies to every search box I checked.

  1. AUTOSCROLL: I searched Advanced Options for "Search", and came up empty. Please add an option to NOT automatically filter rows as characters are typed into the Search bar.

  2. RESIZING: Please add an option to resize the Search Bar in all locations. The main Processes, Services, ... tabs have this by proxy, because you can resize the right-most scrolling chart of Network Throughput. Those two elements could have independent resizing.

But the Advanced Options Search Bar is VERY small, and is NOT resizeable. There may be other places with this issue, as I did not perform an exhaustive search.

I think all of the above changes are pretty easy to make, and will eventually percolate up the priority list due to this. #3 especially.

Lastly, THANK YOU SO MUCH for providing such a WONDERFULLY FUNCTIONAL AND POWERFUL tool to the world FOR FREE!!!

P.S. I haven't done much C/C++ coding in some time, and am incredibly short on spare time for many reasons. But I may take a stab at these items. It is way past time for me to start contributing to open source projects.

P.S.S. A thought occurred to me while I typed the above. I have seen other projects where they have a Label for Issues that is something like "Good First Issue". Powertoys uses this. I think it could be beneficial for this project, as it has a fairly large backlog of open issues and is a complex and technically demanding project that lends itself to a new contributor working on something "easier" as they put in the initial effort to get familiar with the code base.
