[bandwidth] tailscale showing as "down"

Expected behavior

having the following setup:

[bandwidth]
label=tsl0
instance=tsl0
interval=1

(where tsl0 is the tailscale interface, tailscale is a wireguard "coordinator")

it should show the current bandwidth

Actual behavior

it shows the interface as "down"

i3blocks config relevant to blocklet(s)

[bandwidth]

Output of any relevant other commands that might help diagnostics

e.g. bwmon-ng shows the current bandwidth correctly
