Headless mode not supported

The key injector does not work unless used with the GUI side of linux. Meaning, if you are using the command prompt only and not loading the GUI, it will not work.

I discovered this in an attempt to run the key injector on a Raspberry Pi 1 with RetroPie. RetroPie is a specific build of Raspbian with game emulators included. You can find their website at https://retropie.org.uk/

Why don't you use http://www.emulationstation.org/ either on X or in Windows. In both cases the injection should work?
The other option would be to write a libni plugin for all the emulators.
