Allow to ask for specific version of nix packages

I could not find an example for requesting a specific version of a nix package, so I assume it's not possible currently, and that always the latest version is used.

So, would it be possible to extend the request syntax to allow for requesting specific versions of packages?

It is possible if you host your own solution. use -e NIXERY_PKGS_REPO=https://github.com/NixOS/nixpkgs.git to bring the nixos repo up then you can point to ref of the package specific version. You can get the refs here: https://www.nixhub.io/

Yep, that's correct. In general the public version will not support this (it'd be hard/impossible to limit to things that are cached, and the experience would not be great), but on a private instance you can easily do this.
