Chancela — Portugal-Compliant Corporate Acts Ledger and Archive

Specification index. The product is a Portugal-first records, signing, governance, archive, workflow, and compliance platform for Portuguese collective entities, with the livro de atas and related atos societários as the center of gravity. It runs as an offline desktop monolith, a self-hosted client-server deployment, and a browser deployment — all backed by the same Rust domain core and the same legal rule packs.

The specification is broken down by application scope. Each document contains numbered requirements using RFC 2119 keywords (MUST / SHOULD / MAY) plus its legal grounding.

Reading order

Start with 01 (what we are building and in which editions), then 02–03 (the legal ground truth that everything else serves), then 04 (signatures, the hardest compliance surface), then 05–08 (how the system is structured), then 09–10, and 11 for the full document-chain catalog referenced throughout.

Core principle

The platform helps produce compliant records; it does not create legal validity out of an invalid meeting, missing powers, or a defective corporate process. Every feature must preserve the distinction between substantive validity (a matter of law and fact) and documentary evidence (what the software can actually strengthen).
