I write native Linux software for my own use and publish all of it free: a Calibre database layer with a faithful port of its search grammar, an epubcheck-gated EPUB repair CLI, GTK4 apps (task manager, RSS reader, document viewer, reading-room web UI, audio library manager), KOReader and Kindle patches, music library auditors, and the shared Rust and Python libraries underneath them.
Everything is local-first: no accounts, no telemetry, no cloud. It runs on your machine and answers to you.
In a recent two-week stretch I shipped 316 releases across 29 repositories, every one with tests, CI, and release notes that say what changed. These tools run on my machines too, so they keep getting fixed whether anyone sponsors or not.
