[Feature Request] Coordinate Editor

This is the one feature I find missing from this plugin which prevents me from dropping Waymark Preset Plugin.
Typically it's not necessary because grid snapping lets you place extremely good waymarks 95% of the time, but there are edge cases where more precise positioning is required which can only be done perfectly using coordinates.
The ability to do this would be very welcome, even better if the proposed change could be previewed as a draft in comparison to the current positioning.
If you do find the time to implement this, please allow three decimals of precision like WPP does.

I'm curious what your 5% edge cases are that you think need more precise placement. I can only think of one time ever that 3 decimals of precision was necessary, which was the M4S uptime strat waymarks. I'd be surprised if 3 decimals is actually even necessary for that.

I have avoided adding this because I think M4S uptime is the only time it would have ever been useful, and it does not seem worth building a UI for such an obscure usecase. If you really want the precision, a good workaround is follows:

1. Make a preset that's roughly what you want
2. Right-click and share the preset to copy it to your clipboard
3. Open the URL in your browser
4. Copy the JSON at the bottom of the map view
5. Paste into your text editor of choice
6. Edit the X and Z positions with 3 decimals of precision
7. Copy the JSON to your clipboard
8. Re-import the preset back into WMS.

So as an example, this tier in M11S I used decimals to more accurately get waymarks my group felt would be safe for the arena split mechanic. The grid snapping was too aggressive/large for the goal (I wanted to move them half as much as the grid snap was allowing, but maintain perfect symmetry). This was day 1, no public waymarks were available, nor a clear view of what should/would be safe (to this day I feel the grid snapped variant is unnecessarily tight and risky).

Whether or not you deem this a valid use case doesn't really matter, the point is I felt I needed to fall back to WPP to achieve the desired waymarks at the time. However if you feel such use cases are too uncommon or niche to be worth the development effort required for the feature, that's completely valid. You're the one that would have to do the work, and in such situations WPP does still exist and is able to do the job (but it is a hassle to juggle both plugins), so feel free to close this request as unplanned if you feel the feature is not worth your time.

Are you aware that the grid width/depth can be set to fractional values? That provides symmetry and more fine tuned placement without directly editing coordinates.

I was not aware that the grid snapping adhered to the width/depth (and grid size?) values in the rectangle guide settings, nor did it occur to me to ctrl click and try fractional values. I was of the understanding that the guide settings were used to place the circle/square draft markers only. If that is the case, the use for manual coordinate editing would indeed disappear almost entirely.

Or did you just mean to say I could use the guide to drop the intercardinal draft markers had I fine tuned the rectangle guide? (I now realize this is likely what you meant). Because you're absolutely correct that that would have worked in this particular case had I thought of it and realized I could use fractional values in the guide. It would not work however in a case where all four markers were not dropped in a perfect box shape but still required precision (ie. a rhombus), granted this is not the case in my particular example.

Perhaps if you scrap my original proposition and instead added a simple scalable value next to the "Snap to grid" option that allowed the user to fine tune the precision of the snapping? Its default value would be the current snapping size (which I believe is 1.0 units in WPP), but the user could then set it to say 0.5 or 0.25 to halve or quarter the snapping distance. This seems like a much more reasonable feature to implement and would effectively enable the same outcome as a fully fleshed out coordinate editor would.

Yeah any intersection on the guide qualifies as a "snap point" for snapping to grid.

That is also a viable method for your particular example, but I acknowledge it doesn't work for everything. Snapping to guide is more general purpose.

Yeah I think that direction makes sense. I don't want to explode the screen with grid lines, but I can probably do something like only drawing the granular lines close to the user's position.

If you are still planning to add it, can you also please add export to native? lack of dalamud on raid days f'ed my waymarks placement because I literally had 0 on the native one since I started using wms.

I haven't given up on the coordinate editor. I implemented it locally, but I wasn't happy with it how it fit into the current UI, so it turned into a bigger project.
I'm going to do a rework to separate the "studio" UI from the "preset" UI so I have more space to work with.

I implemented this and it's terrible. Coordinate editor is the direction I'm taking.
