Upstream to OpenWRT

Hello Christian,

I was wanting to check the status of upstreaming the CPLD driver to stock OpenWRT. (Or whatever else is involved for SFP support)

If the v1000 had two RJ45 ports it at least wouldn't be such a paperweight for me ;)

I'm wondering if it would be possible to setup an apk repo that can host the required packages if the issue is political? Would be happy to work on that if that's the case.

So I also have a vEdge 1000, and was wondering the current state of OpenWRT support. I am trying to compile it manually from the vedge-1000-for-upstream branch, and I'm doing my best but it's not going all that well. Are there things that still need to be done for full support?

I also have no idea if I am doing any of this correctly, but if anyone has advice I would love to hear it!

We're running it from this repo in production, you can see our weekly or so releases that are built in this repo as well.

In another issue you had stated that to use all SFP ports as gigabit Ethernet (not fiber) you would have to change a file. This would require compiling it correct?

We use 4/4, the first four we use for fiber and the last 4 for RJ45 SFPs. That requires a recompilation to update the DTB correct

So using the make menuconfig command, what is the recommended options to apply? It seems to be developed for every device and every configuration, so I was wondering what you include in your builds of it?

Under sonix/diffconfig you have the config we use.
