* Original authors
Ed is largely unchanged from Ken Thompson's original 1969 version. Its
design was influenced by QED, a complex programmable editor written
by Peter L. Deutsch and Butler Lampson of UC Berkeley (ca. 1966). Ken
Thompson introduced regular expressions to QED (ca. 1967). Dennis
Ritchie extended regular expression syntax (ca. 1969?).
