For weeks, Firefox's keyboard shortcut for screenshots hasn't been working. I thought that it was just a bug, or user error, and nothing I tried worked, until it finally dawned on me that maybe an extension was interfering. After confirming that SL had Ctrl+Shift+S registered, I tested it on the other Firefox-based browsers I use, and found that only the one with SL installed had Ctrl+Shift+S-related issues.
Ctrl+Shift+X also interferes with FF's default shortcut.
As a solution, I'm requesting that SL's keyboard shortcuts are either changed to something else, or turned off by default. For now, I've fixed it by just deleting Simplelogin's Ctrl+Shift+S hotkey in Firefox's Add-ons Manager, but it's still not ideal because:
- The SL extension doesn't make reference to the shortcuts anywhere in plain view, so users would have to have a stroke of inspiration to realise why the screenshot shortcut isn't working.
- When using
Ctrl+Shift+S, nothing happens. If SL were to at least open the action menu, then it would immediately be clear why the screenshots interface isn't appearing.
Ctrl+Shift+X works (not that I've used it before today, because I didn't know about it), but Ctrl+Shift+S doesn't, which could further lead someone to believe it's a problem with them, or a browser bug, and not the extension shortcuts and browser shortcuts clashing. Granted, this would require them to first be aware of SL's shortcuts and, if they're aware, they could easily do something about it.
I feel the better solution is to disable SL's shortcuts by default, and to add a shortcut toggle (or pair of toggles) somewhere in plain view in the extension's interface. (The Ctrl+Shift+X shortcut could be mentioned right beneath the button for randomly generating aliases.)
