Cannot send On Screen Keyboard inputs while in Tablet Mode to Linux apps running on Chard

Frustrated with the lack of improvements on Crostini, I recently installed Chard (with Arch Linux) on my Chromebook, hoping to improve some of the issues I've encountered. First of all, my device:
Acer Chromebook Spin 13 (1WN), board NAMI, 2 in 1 with Wacom digitizer, x86_64.
The problem I'm having is that I can't seem to get a virtual keyboard to appear on the screen while using it in tablet mode, allowing me to type text. The two examples I can give are with the Chard terminal and with xournalpp, a notetaking app.

1. ChromeOS keyboard: Force-enabling the option in the Accessibility section of the settings displays a toggle on the ChromeOS taskbar. When accessing the keyboard from there, in a Chard Linux app, the app only registers the "Enter" and "Backspace" keys.
2. Using a Linux OSK app (tested with Onboard and xvkbd), ChromeOS forces it to fullscreen in tablet mode, like all other windows. Even when setting the OSK as a floating window (i.e., the ChromeOS WM option that overlays one app on top of another on the right side of the screen), input isn't received.

I understand this may be an extremely niche use case, but I'd simply like to know if this is a previously reported issue or/and if it's worth investigating further in the future. I'm available for any additional tests and clarifications (I use Linux primarily as a desktop system; I'm not very knowledgeable about protocol interfacing).

Thanks for reporting this, I never tested an on-screen keyboard before and I am surprised nobody ever did until now.

Ok, this might be indicative that Chard needs to add Kernel flags for this potentially. I will investigate with my 2-in-1 chromebooks. I do not own a Wacom digitizer sadly.

This is an important accessibility feature to support, so I do want to get this to work. I'll report back with any updates.

Inside Chard's xfce4-terminal run:

yay -S --noconfirm xf86-input-wacom
yay -S --noconfirm corekeyboard

The first command is for Wacom digitizer driver, but Chard might need to enable a kernel flag for that. If ChromeOS lacks this specific kernel flag, Chard cannot support it either.

To launch this on-screen keyboard, run corekeyboard

This keyboard works for me and ctrl-c will end it inside the terminal window. I can open new tabs in terminal window and use the on screen keyboard. It is quite responsive, but I am not a fan of the UI or lack of minimize key.

This will require testing to figure out what the best option is. These packages are super tiny, so I can absolutely include built-in on-screen keyboard support; but I don't think we can use ChromeOS' on-sreen keyboard.

edit: Adding these kernel flags have fixed the game Ravenfield crashing when interacting with touchscreen, so that is nice to see.

I can confirm the on screen keyboard does not work completely out of the box and that only the enter and delete inputs work, which is weird. iIll investigate and trace the source code to find a resolution. Other accessibility features are probably incompatible currently .
