[Feature]: Please add a Quick Settings Tile for Screen Off / Screen Curtain #631

Description

@deltaxsingh

Problem Statement

I want to quickly turn off my screen or use a "Screen Curtain" while playing media, but there is no direct Quick Settings (QS) tile for this. Currently, the only native option within the Essentials app is the "Empty Screen Off Widget." This requires navigating away from the current app and going to the home screen just to trigger it. Additionally, for users on systems like Xiaomi's HyperOS, the native "play video with screen off" feature was recently removed, leaving us without a quick, accessible way to kill the screen from the control center.

Proposed Solution

A dedicated Quick Settings (QS) tile for the "Screen Off" feature included in the Essentials app's available toggles. When dragged into the active QS grid and tapped, it should use the existing Shizuku implementation to instantly power down the display, exactly like the home screen widget does, without interrupting background media playback.

Alternatives Considered

Currently, I am placing the "Empty Screen Off Widget" on my home screen, but this interrupts my workflow since I have to exit my active app to use it. I've also considered using a separate third-party open-source app like "Extinguish" solely to get a QS screen-off tile, but it would be much cleaner and more efficient to have this functionality built directly into the Essentials QS suite.

Priority

Medium - Would improve my experience

Contribution

  • I would be willing to implement this feature

Additional Context

Having this as a QS tile would be a huge quality-of-life upgrade, especially for users on newer Android versions or manufacturer ROMs that have recently stripped out background-play and screen-curtain features for compliance reasons. Thank you for building such an incredible app!
