Bug showing number of courses

Hi I have found a couple of bugs, I have activated the option show list of categories on front page:

• I have a course categories and subcategories. When I create a course inside a subcategory, the parent of this category (in the front page) still shows (0) courses, and should show (1)
• Subcategories, do not show the number of courses? I mean the (0)

Currently sub-categories are hidden if you choose to use the tiled display. This is not a bug but a design choice due to the complexities involved with multiple depths of sub-categories.

I need to find a way to style multiple sub-categories within a tile and still look reasonable.

If you need to display subcategories, consider not using the category icon tiles.

Alternatively if you are able to provide a patch to style multiple sub-categories (and even sub-sub-categories etc) or even some design ideas that I could turn into code to cover those many depth eventualities, then I would be happy to consider it. For now, tiled icons for categories only supports the top level.

What do you mean by "tiled displays"? Is this a theme or moodle option?

The icon/tiled display of categories is a Flexibase theme option. It can be turned off in the theme setting 'Category Icons' page.

I set the "Enable category icons" to off, but still is shown the (0).
Anyway, I have set display:none in CSS to hide the number of courses.

The (0) is correct if there are no courses in that specific category - it does not, and is not intended to, total up courses in separate sub-categories. That would be an entirely different request, although would be an option to consider (display number of courses in this category + total of courses in sub-categories).
Any development along these lines would require both thought as to what the actual requirements are and how best to achieve it as this was outside the remit of the original design (which was to support a single level of categories). As such this will either have to wait until I have free time to look at it, or would need to be funded.
