Version distributed through f-droid does not function

If installed, the version distributed via f-droid contains no voices and the import voices function does nothing.

It'd be great if that version were usable.

Agreed. I am on a Pixel 3a, android 11.
Downloaded espeak version 1.51-dev via f-droid.
It comes up but says "Voices installed:0" and doesn't speak anything.

Same, it does not seemed to have languages installed.
